Commanders catch Airmen doing something good Published Jan. 18, 2008 By Airman 1st Class Daryl Knee 90th Space Wing Public Affairs F. E. WARREN AFB, Wyo. -- The 90th Space Wing Plans and Programs office has recently undertaken the task of refreshing a program designed to recognize individual achievement within Warren. The 'Caught You Doing Something Good' program began in 2003 with the wing commander, group commanders, Military Affairs Committee chairman and the Air Force Association Chapter president distributing cards once a month to Airmen who are 'caught' in the act of doing a good deed. The award cards include a $10 'Positively Cheyenne' gift certificate, which is redeemable throughout many of Cheyenne's stores. Also, the section will issue a recognition certificate to the squadron commander to present to the Airman caught in the act. "This is a great program," said Col. Mike Morgan, 90th SW commander. "We have many, many Airmen doing a fantastic job each and every day. This is another opportunity for senior leaders to say thank you." There are no criteria for earning the award card, said Bob Kodis, 90th SW Plans and Programs. For example, an Airman noticed Colonel Morgan's house sign had been blown across the road. He stopped, picked it up and placed it back in its position on the house. He didn't have to do that, Mr. Kodis added. "We should take every opportunity to recognize and reward exceptional Airman on a regular basis," Mr. Kodis said. "It doesn't have to be monetary; it could be a 'thank you' or a pat on the back. We can never have enough ways to show our appreciation to the troops."
