A former Warren member earned a Bronze Star medal for his duties in Iraq from Nov. 12 to Oct. 15, 2007.

Tech. Sgt. Marshall McBride distinguished himself by meritorious service to the United States as the NCO in charge for the screening section of the joint interrogation and debriefing center in Baghdad.

He supervised the screening of 20,000 detainees, and identified 2,500 detainees for interrogation.

In addition to his duties as a section supervisor, Sergeant McBride completed 500 screenings resulting in the identification of 115 detainees for further interrogation. His efforts in the screening booth led to the production of 48 Intelligence Information Reports that were distributed directly to the divisions and brigades operating in theater.

His efforts ensured that detainees with vital intelligence were assessed, and that the flow of communication remained intact and operational. During a period of his deployment, the number of screenings per week surged from 300 to 600 detainees.

As the Joint Interrogation Debriefing Center's most skilled screener, he was selected to screen detainees of high value; he screened detainees who were receiving attention from the highest levels of the military and carrying immense political importance and exposure. He handled each situation with professionalism and expertise.

Through Sergeant McBride's leadership and mentoring, the screening section has been a potent weapon in the War on Terror, helping to defeat Al-Qaeda, Shi'a extremist groups and other insurgent organizations.

Sergeant McBride's actions bring credit upon himself and the Air Force.
