Warren Airmen earn Pitsenbarger awards

Staff Sgt. Charles Branum, 90th Logistics Readiness Squadron, and Staff Sgt. Steven Rutledge, 90th Missile Maintenance Squadron, both spring graduates of the Community College of the Air Force, each earned $500 Pitsenbarger grants from the Air Force Association. 

This award, named after Medal of Honor recipient Airman 1st Class William Pitsenbarger, is awarded to top CCAF graduates who plan to pursue a baccalaureate degree. 

Sergeant Branum is the unit deployment manager for the 90th LRS. He earned his CCAF degree in transportation. He will begin work on a bachelor's degree in criminal justice through Southwestern College after completing a six month deployment. 

Chief Master Sgt. Tammy Elliott, 90th Space Wing command chief, presented the award to Sergeant Branum at the 90th Space Wing quarterly awards ceremony prior to his deployment. 

Sergeant Rutledge is the electromechanical team chief for the 90th MMXS. He earned his CCAF degree in electronic system technology. 

He is pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering technology from Thomas Edison State College. 

Sergeant Rutlege received his award from Maj. Gen. Thomas Deppe, Air Force Space Command vice commander, at the Armed Forces Day banquet. 

The Pitsenbarger Award is provided through the Cowboy Chapter of the Air Force Association with the support of the base education officer and the command chief master sergeant.
