New 90th Missile Wing vice assumes position Published July 21, 2008 By Airman 1st Class Alex Martinez 90th Missile Wing Public Affairs F.E. Warren AFB, Wyo. -- Hailing from Dodge City, Kan., the 90th Missile Wing's new vice commander has found himself joining another community with rich cowboy history, and is excited to be here again. Col. Fred Stoss, 90th MW vice commander, has been at Warren for a few weeks now and said he's already very impressed with what he sees. "I see a team here," Colonel Stoss said. "I've sensed amazing synergy from the moment I arrived, and that's the key to our success." Colonel Stoss was stationed here at the Twentieth Air Force in the early 1990s. He's excited to be back at Warren to be part of the critical mission of global deterrence. "I'm a missileer, so coming back to a missile wing is always an awesome feeling," Colonel Stoss said. "This is my first time working at base-level with such a large scope. I look forward to getting to know all the groups and support agencies, especially the people who are performing their important jobs here." The Colonel's last assignment was at the Pentagon as the Chief of the Nuclear Operations Division as part of the Air Staff. He said his experience there was humbling with a great job, super people and a significant amount of work that kept him busy. "With increased activity in the nuclear field, we didn't have to worry about not having enough to do," the colonel said. Colonel Stoss plans to contribute to Warren's success. "I look forward to aiding our wing's reputation as being the center of excellence," Colonel Stoss said. "That excellence includes all parts of the base: missile operations, maintenance, security, mission support, medical, as well as staff agencies. "If I can contribute to their well-being and mission success, it would be wonderful," he said. Colonel Stoss said his key message to Airmen of the 90th MW is to "... know your job inside and out, and do it to the best of your ability every time. Strive for perfection."
