Worldwide Tops In Blue talent search underway Published Sept. 19, 2008 By Airman 1st Class Alex Martinez 90th Missile Wing Public Affairs F.E. WARREN AFB, Wyo. -- Air Force Entertainment began its 2009 Worldwide Talent Search this month. The mission: to find talented Airmen who are interested in joining the Air Force Tops in Blue performing group, and travel with them on their next yearly tour that begins in March. This recruitment campaign officially begins Sept. 30 and lasts until Dec. 2. The applications will be reviewed, and those selected will be able to compete in the 2009 talent competition Jan. 11 through 19 at Lackland Air Force Base, TX. The Tops in Blue is an expeditionary unit that provides entertainment throughout the Air Force through song and dance. They are always looking for talented Airmen to join, and to aid them in their recruitment, they have incentives for base services squadrons who provide the largest amount of applicants. Warren is participating in the competition in the small unit category. "We hope to have enough people submit applications," said Robin Lauser, communibrary. "That would help us bring in some cash so we can better support our community and local agencies." A meeting is scheduled today from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the communibrary for anyone interested. The meeting will cover the two ways to send in applications: uploading audition tapes and submitting applications online, and downloading and mailing applications and audition tapes. The communibrary will help anyone with their applications. Video support will be offered Oct. 9 at the communibrary for anyone who does not have access to audio and visual equipment. Singing and dancing are not the only talents Airmen have to possess for Tops in Blue. Other talents such as comedy and playing an instrument are also considered. "This is an opportunity for Airmen to share their talents with a lot of people," Mrs. Lauser said. "The experience will help people grow professionally and personally."
