The 2008 Cheyenne Area Combined Federal Campaign began at Warren Tuesday and will end Nov. 21.

The mission of the CFC is to support and to promote philanthropy through a voluntary program that is employee-focused, cost-efficient and effective in providing all Federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all.

"The CFC is a yearly fundraiser operated by the government and supported by government agencies," said Master Sgt. Del Areford, 90th Force Support Squadron first sergeant. "It's the only authorized fundraiser of federal employees in support of approved charities."

Warren's goal is $100,000 this year, about a $10,000 dollar difference from 2007's goal. The goal is based on base population and estimated individual contributions, the sergeant said.

"The big push this year is to remember that the CFC gives us the opportunity to donate to local organizations and maximize return donation to get a lot of the money back into local charities like Operation Warren Cares, Operation Warm Heart and many more," the sergeant said.

Group representatives will be coming around to offices and assuring 100 percent contact for the campaign, he said.

There are also several other volunteers at the squadron and below levels that are the backbone of making this a success, Sergeant Areford continued.
