Warren members prepare for upcoming inspections Published Nov. 14, 2008 By Staff Sgt. Chad Thompson 90th Missile Wing Public Affairs F.E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. -- A compliance inspection and nuclear surety inspection are closely approaching, and Warren members used an exercise Monday to prepare. The exercise tested base members' communication between organizations and how quickly they responded during an off-base incident caused by a violent ice storm. Monday's exercise was one of four Warren will undergo before the inspections, said Tech. Sgt. James Stanley, 90th Missile Wing plans and programs office. "These inspections will be some of the most gut wrenching Warren have ever seen," Sergeant Stanley said. "Everyone needs to take these exercises seriously, and start looking out for little things that are out of place. So when the [Inspector General] is here we will all have an inspection mindset and be prepared for whatever curveball they might have." According to Air Force Instruction 90-201, Inspector General Activities, a compliance inspection assesses areas mandated by law as well as mission critical areas identified by senior leadership as important to assess and assure the health and performance of organizations. Nuclear surety inspections evaluate a unit's nuclear management resources against approved safety, security and reliability standards. A unit's failure to comply with either inspection could result in legal liabilities, penalties or mission impact. Lt. Col. Marc Piccolo, 90th Mission Support Group deputy commander, said in order for Warren to be prepared for the CI and NSI everyone needs to take a proactive approach and be sure to communicate information up and down the chain of command. Getting familiar with the new chat room and, again, communicating up and down the chain of command are some of the things Airmen should focus on, Sergeant Stanley said.
