Freedom and Independence Hall Fitness Centers will receive new workout equipment Feb.11.

The new equipment will include Star Trac brand treadmills, cross trainers, and recumbent and upright stationary bikes.

"It's important for fitness centers to regularly upgrade their workout equipment," said Senior Airman Angelo Lowrie, 90th Force Support Squadron. "New developments [in fitness equipment] help people get a better workout and that helps the mission."

To make room for the new equipment, the fitness staff has to rearrange the current trainers. The equipment that will not be used in either fitness center will be transferred out to smaller organizations such as the Naval Operational Support Center Cheyenne located here and the Warren Fire Department.

Staff Sgt. Mateo Estrada, 90th FSS, said it helps out the fitness centers when organizations accept the excess fitness equipment.

"The new equipment will boost people's morale," Sergeant Estrada said.

The transfer of the equipment will take a couple of days to execute, and the fitness centers will have adjusted hours of operation.
