Warren members celebrate National Prayer Luncheon Published Feb. 6, 2009 By 2nd Lt. Brooke Brzozowske 90th Missile Wing Public Affairs F.E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. -- The annual National Prayer Luncheon is scheduled for Feb. 11 at 11:30 a.m. in the Trail's End Club. The luncheon began after former President Harry Truman's official declaration of an "annual, national day of prayer." It is with this in mind that the Federal Government, State Governments, military installations and other organizations provide a time of prayer where people of all faiths are called upon to pray as they see fit, said Chaplain (Capt.) Kraig Smith, 90th Missile Wing. The guest speaker will be Chaplain Andrew Thornley, personal friend of the 90th MW Commander Col. Mike Morgan and chaplain of the 316th Wing at Andrews Air Force Base, MD., Chaplain Smith said. The theme of this year's event is "A Time to Heal" and focuses on spiritual and relational healing Chaplain Smith said. "We are so much more than our physical selves, and yet, whether we have faced combat in battle or combat in relationships," he said, "we often seek only the healing of our physical selves, and seldom seek the healing of our spiritual selves. "The body has amazing rejuvenative powers, but the heart tends to heal more slowly, and it needs hope to mend," Chaplain Thornley said. "'A Time to Heal' will provide you with the opportunity to find hope for the heart."
