The commander of Air Force Space Command, Gen. C. Robert Kehler had encouraging words for the Airmen in the 90th Missile Wing during a hangar call here Tuesday afternoon.

The commander, among many other topics, stressed the importance of the nuclear enterprise and the effort the nation demands to attain the required standard of perfection.
"The nuclear enterprise is the Air Force's number one priority," General Kehler said.

As operators in the nuclear field, Warren Airmen should strive to make America's countrymen go to bed every night safe with the security those Airmen provide, the general said. The job that they do is the most important mission that the Air Force has.

The general went on to say it does not matter if there are 10,000 nuclear-capable missiles or one; the ideas governing accountability remain the same. Be combat ready anytime, everyday - and with perfection.

It is critically important that Airmen remain focused on the Air Force's mission while at the same time continuing with the standard of excellence they are know for.

"I have 100 percent confidence in all of you," he stated.

General Kehler discussed that the Air Force is simultaneously engaged in two conflicts. One conflict is the on-going Global War on Terror fight and the other is preventing a fight through strategic deterrence - and American's missile wings hugely contribute to this vital deterrent capability.

Also during the hangar call, General Kehler presented awards. Tech. Sgt. Benjamin Kelly and Staff Sgt. Damian Taylor, both from the 90th Civil Engineer Squadron, earned bronze stars and Maj. David Stone, 90th Communications Squadron commander, earned a combat action medal.
