Warren members earn Pitsenbarger award Published May 11, 2009 By Col. Carol Holland (Ret.) F.E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. -- Staff Sgt. Shannon Standridge and Staff Sgt. Minh Tran, spring graduates of the Community College of the Air Force, have earned $400 Pitsenbarger grants from the Air Force Association. This grant, named after Medal of Honor recipient Airman 1st Class William H. Pitsenbarger, is awarded to top CCAF graduates who plan to pursue a baccalaureate degree. The awards will be presented at the Armed Forces Day banquet May 15 at the Holiday Inn. Sergeant Standridge is a dental assistant craftsman with the 90th Medical Operations Squadron. She earned her CCAF degree in applied science. She is working toward a bachelor's degree in organizational management through Ashford University. Sergeant Standridge enjoys her job as a dental technician and values education. She graduated at the top of her class in advanced oral hygiene and went on to complete an 11-month practical to become a periodontal therapist. Sergeant Tran is a power production craftsman for the 90th Civil Engineering Squadron. He earned his CCAF degree in mechanical and electrical technology. Sergeant Tran is pursuing a bachelor's degree in management from Park University. Sergeant Tran is a distinguished graduate of Airman Leadership School where he received the John Levitow award. His goal is to earn a commission through the Air Force physicians assistant program and later to enroll in medical school. A Pitsenbarger award is provided through the Cowboy Chapter of the Air Force Association with the support of the base education office and the command chief master sergeant.
