Maj. Jerrod Duggan now commands the newly activated 15th Munitions Squadron as he accepted the responsibility during a ceremony in the Trail's End Club Tuesday.

The squadron, while geographically located at Warren, reports to the 798th Munitions Maintenance Group and ultimately to the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center and Air Force Material Command.

"Today is a monumental day for the nuclear enterprise," Major Duggan said, "as we form an alliance between the 15th MUNS and the 90th Missile Wing."

He continued by saying the squadron is focused on building an organizational structure to lead the way in nuclear expertise with a very clear message of commitment.

"We will seek ways to improve processes that are already in place," the major said. "We will be premiere support to the 90th Missile Wing, our operational warfighter."

While the service members have only transferred units, the 15th MUNS replaces the 90th Missile Maintenance Squadron as operators in the Warren Weapon Storage Area, he said. With a group of people solely dedicated to munitions control who have a streamlined chain of command, it is a huge step in developing nuclear deterrence to secure the nation.

The nuclear enterprise has been under significant scrutiny by the American people, said Col. David Milner Jr., 798th MUMG commander. This change is about reinvigorating the nuclear-specific roles squadrons own inside WSAs.

"I expect [Major Duggan] to lead [his] unit and instill in them that failure is not an option," Colonel Milner said.

Major Duggan added he will do everything in his power to make the Warren WSA the best in the Air Force.
