Base implements new seven-digit telephone dialing effective Sept. 18 Published Sept. 11, 2009 By Glenn Elliott 90th Communications Squadron F.E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. -- The 90th Communications Squadron is aligning on-base telephone dialing with new Air Force standards -- this requires the use of the seven-digit telephone number instead of the four-digit extension for on-base calls. At Warren, users must dial 773 before the four-digit extension. This change does not affect 911; continue to dial 911 for emergency assistance. Beginning Sept. 18, if a person makes an on-base call using the four-digit extension, they will hear a recorded message that reminds them to use the seven-digit phone number. Then, the call will be connected. Beginning Oct. 1, four-digit dialers will hear the reminder recording, but they will need to hang up and redial the phone number to be connected. For those who have user-programmed equipment, such as speed-dials or equipment that uses a modem, the telephone control officer, system program office, or the Help Desk will be able to assist in changing that programming to dial the seven-digit telephone number.
