Cecilia Sauerwine's cat Tiger escaped his container during a visit to the base veterinary clinic Sept. 24 and is found atop Warren's Thrift Shop roof. Warren firefighters are called to help in the rescue. (U.S. Air Force photos/Senior Airman Daryl Knee)
Airman 1st Class Calvin Wayman, 90th Civil Engineer Squadron fire department, braces the ladder as Airman 1st Class Migeul Rodriguez, 90th CES fire department, and Army Sgt. David Smith, veterinarian technician, climb to the roof to rescue Tiger. Once in position, Airman Rodriguez blocked the pathway Tiger may have run to, and Sergeant Smith quickly grabbed the cat.
After securing Tiger, Sergeant Smith prepares his helmet and gloves for the descent off of the thrift-shop roof.
Airman Rodriguez takes the pet container from Sergeant Smith and begins the climb down to ground level where an eager Mrs. Sauerwine is waiting.
When Tiger was finally able to go to the veterinary clinic for his checkup, Mrs. Sauerwine comforts him as Sergeant Smith administers a shot. Healthy as can be, Tiger left with Mrs. Sauerwine all because of the safe, speedy work of Warren's fire department.
