It is said that one of the greatest resources Warren has to offer is the base library.
Since the community center has moved back to Fall Hall, the library staff has been able to further develop the facility, obtain more materials and improve their programs.

"We're getting new materials in all the time -- almost daily," said Tekla Slider, library director.

Since she recently took over the director's position, Ms. Slider said she and the library staff have ordered many traditional materials, such as reference books, magazines, periodicals, fiction and non-fiction books.

She said she's also ordered many items, such as current DVDs, CDs and Playaways, which are books recorded on a portable MP3 player.

"College Level Examination Program and DANTES materials are hugely popular and are used every day," she said.

Ms. Slider added that the library is happy to take requests and suggestions from people. If the staff is not able to purchase the materials, the Warren Library will loan them out from another library.

The idea behind this is for people to develop confidence in the reliability of the library so they keep coming back and trying new things.

"Our goal is to create life-long learners," she said. "Not only is reading fun, but there things you find in books that you can't find anywhere else."

Some of the other programs offered at the library include children's story hour, the summer reading program, language program, a computer room with scanners as well as age-specific reading areas.

Currently, the library is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Ms. Slider said she is looking to expand into weekends and evenings as they hire more staff.
