Warren Top 3 adopts a highway Published Jan. 11, 2011 By Senior Airman Daryl Knee 90th Missile Wing Public Affairs F. E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, WYO. -- Warren's Top 3 private organization sponsored an Adopt-A-Highway cleanup event April 22 between mile markers 378 and 380 off of Interstate 80. Master Sgt. Warren Wellons, 90th Security Forces Group, was the event coordinator. "This event is just a small part of what we do for our community," the sergeant said. That 'small part' turned out to be about 30 trash bags filled with roadway litter and debris. Volunteers for the event filled the bags, tied them shut and left them on the shoulder of the interstate. The way it works, Sergeant Wellons said, is that the Wyoming Department of Transportation supplies the trash bags and vests, and then, in this instance, a Pine Bluffs, Wyo., sanitation crew comes along later in the day to pick up the trash bags. "We're glad and grateful to be a part of the Cheyenne community," said Col. Greg Tims, 90th Missile Wing commander. "I mean, we live here, we work here, we use these roads. "It just feels good to do our part and clean up," he continued. Additionally Colonel Tims, Col. Scott Fox, 90th MW vice commander; Col. Steven Miller, 90th SFG commander; and Col. Francesca Vasta-Falldorf, 90th Medical Group commander, also cleaned up trash along the interstate. To view slideshow click here.
