Warren improves security with DBIDS Published Jan. 27, 2011 By Staff Reports 90th Missile Wing Public Affairs F. E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, WYO -- Air Force Global Strike Command's F. E. Warren Air Force Base implemented the Defense Biometric Identification System July 15, 2010, and began enforcing compliance at the beginning of this year. The system is an initiative of Homeland Security and the Department of Defense. It was developed as a force protection and identity management program to manage personnel, property and installation access. The Air Force-wide implementation of the system requires every Warren member and those with regular access to the base to properly register in DBIDS. DBIDS enhances the military law enforcement mission by helping to provide a safe and secure community. This system allows control of base access digitally through a centralized and current database of biometric details including a photograph, identifying information such as height and weight, and fingerprints. DBIDS helps to ensure better decisions in order to keep the base and its members safe from unauthorized personnel, as well as control access at times when only mission critical personnel are needed on the installation. DBIDS produces installation passes for personnel who are entitled to recurring and unescorted access to military installations, but do not possess a DoD ID Card. DBIDS also features alerts for new ID card registrations, lost or stolen ID cards, and changes in base access permissions. DBIDS registration can be accomplished at the following locations and times: Visitor Control Center, Bldg. 426, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Pass and Registration, Bldg. 290, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday except federal holidays. Military Personnel Flight, Bldg. 1284, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday except Federal Holidays and 90 Missile Wing down-days. The 90th MW leadership is leaning forward to increase traffic efficiency with the possible purchase of additional registration stations and monitoring the gates during peak hours of the morning. They appreciate the public's cooperation in the latest efforts to make F. E. Warren a more secure installation.
