WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, WYO -- Monday it was announced that the 90th Missile Wing Safety office earned four Air Force level awards, which adds to the seven Air Force Global Strike Command awards they earned in December. "This was a clean sweep," said Col. Greg Tims, 90th Missile Wing commander, "which only confirms again that this is by far the best safety office I have worked with in 25 years." The wing's outstanding safety record is something to be proud of, said Lt. Col. Anita Feugate-Opperman, 90th Missile Wing chief of safety. This office strives for an even better year in 2011 with the help of trained professionals, the 90th MW/SE and the continued support of unit safety representatives. The Air Force level awards earned were: "Flight Safety plaque," "Missile Safety Category II plaque," "Explosives Safety Category I plaque" and "Nuclear Surety Category I plaque." These awards recognize organizations below the numbered Air Force level for outstanding achievement in or contributions to flight, explosive Air Force nuclear weapon system and nuclear power system programs, and missile safety. "Earning these awards at the highest level is not only a testament to the hard work ethic of our safety office, but to everyone on base for properly executing operations with our safety office's guidance," said Chief Master Sgt. Marty Anderson, 90th MW command chief. The AFGSC awards won were: "Air Force Chief of Safety Outstanding Achievement Award for Ground Safety," "Flight Safety plaque," "Missile Safetyplaque," "Explosives Safety plaque," "Nuclear Surety plaque," "AFGSC Ground Safety Excellence Award" and "AFGSC Weapons Safety Excellence Award." These AFGSC level awards are presented to the unit with the most effective ground and weapons safety mishap prevention programs. "I'd also like to applaud all of those who continue to keep this culture of safety alive and well throughout the Mighty Ninety," Colonel Tims said. "Great job to you all!"
