More than 30 local mayors, law-enforcement officials and landowners received an ICBM mission orientation and tour from the 90th Missile Wing leaders here, April 12.
The second-annual mayors' ICBM orientation tour focused on Air Force Global Strike Command's 90th MW mission and capabilities, as well as the direct impact local members of the community have on the Airmen of the Mighty Ninety. This year's tour was opened to law-enforcement officials and landowners near our launch facilities, who regularly work side-by-side with Airmen in both daily interactions and off-base disturbances.

"Having strong ties with the community is an integral part of our mission accomplishment," said Col. Greg Tims, 90th MW commander. "We rely on the strengths of our local partners to help ensure we provide preeminent combat capabilities. We work in their back yards and their acceptance has made it a joy for us to live and work alongside them."

Warren Airmen briefed the tour group on F. E. Warren's ICBM mission and escorted them through a launch control center simulator at the 90th Operations Group. The simulator is used to help train and evaluate missileers when they are not in the missile field.

The guests also had the opportunity to view maintenance operations and capabilities at Uniform-01, the launch facility trainer.

This mock missile silo allows 90th Maintenance Group Airmen to practice maintenance procedures in a simulated environment before working at an operational LF.

Members of the tour group said they were thankful for the opportunity to visit the 90th Missile Wing and they look forward to next year's visit.

"The idea behind this kind of event is great from an outreach perspective," said Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen. "The education and information we received on the ICBM mission are invaluable, especially to those communities where F. E. Warren has a presence. I think this tour is something that should be done year after year."
