Mighty Ninety offers child care options Published May 19, 2011 By Stacy Compton 90th Force Support Squadron F. E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. -- Air Force Global Strike Command's 90th Force Support Squadron has great child care options to choose from to support a variety of needs. The child development center is a nationally accredited program for children ages six weeks to five years of age. The program is available to active duty military, Department of Defense civilians (both Appropriated and Non appropriated), full-time Guard and Reserve and certain contractors assigned to the base. Fees are based on total family income and are set annually by the DoD. The center is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. It is closed on federal holidays and Air Force Global Strike Command family days. The majority of families utilize the program for full day care, but hourly care is also available if space is available. For more information, please call the CDC at 773-3221. The School Age Program is the child care component of Youth Programs. Like the CDC, the SAP is nationally accredited, has the same operating hours, fees are set by DoD, and is available to the same types of individuals. The SAP offers child care to children ages five to 12 years of age (or Kindergarten to sixth grade). The program operates as a before and after school program during the school year and as a camp during school breaks. The SAP offers field trips, activities, Boys and Girls Club programs, 4-H programs and homework assistance. For more information, please call the Youth Center at 773-2564. Family Child Care offers parents the option to place their children in a home environment for care. Potential providers go through a rigorous training program and screening prior to being licensed. Fees are set by the individual provider; however, child care subsidy is available for qualifying families. Care is offered for children ages six weeks to 12 years of age. Providers set their own business hours and can offer care before and after traditional work hours. Licensed providers are available both on and off base. All homes are thoroughly inspected by the FCC Coordinator on at least a monthly basis and by health, safety and fire representatives at least annually. Extended Duty Care, Missile Duty Care, PCS Care, Volunteer Care and Returning Home Care are also available. Providers can provide hourly care as well if needed on a space available basis. Being a family home day care provider is also a wonderful career opportunity for a stay-at-home spouse that loves children and would like the additional income. For more information, please call the FCC Coordinator at 773-3357. Youth Programs Open Recreation Program while not a child care program, does offer pre-teens (nine to 12 years of age) and teens (13 to 18 years of age and still in high school) a fun and educational place to hang out when not in school. During the school year, kids can come to the Teen Center after school Monday through Thursday until 6:00 p.m. On Fridays and Saturdays the center closes at 11:00 p.m. Pre-teens are welcome to stay until 8:00 p.m. During the summer the program opens at 1:00 p.m. Daily activities and clubs are offered along with frequent field trips. The program is a Boys and Girls Club affiliate as well as a 4-H participant. Children have the capability to come and go as they need to. Annual membership to the program is $60. For more information, please contact the Youth Center at 773-2564.
