The F. E. Warren Base Theater hosted its monthly customer appreciation weekend March 9 and 10.

It was a way to show appreciation for the service members and their families who regularly show their support to the theater, said Jeff Hyatt, Army and Air Force Exchange Service general manager for F. E. Warren.

"The usual cost is $2 to see movies at the base theater, but admission is free on customer appreciation weekends," said Hyatt.

"It went surprisingly well," said Hyatt. "We had 88 people show up for family night on Friday, and 95 people on Saturday for the PG-13 movie."

The base theater shows movies six to eight weeks behind most theaters, but it does so at a lower cost and with the convenience of being on base, he said.

The theater offers hot dogs, nachos, popcorn and various types of candy, he said.

"It's a great venue for families to find entertainment, especially in our cold climate, without having to travel, and it's inexpensive," Hyatt said. "It's a great alternative to going off base."

The next event at the base theater is pajama night during which those on base are invited to wear pajamas and watch a movie. It is scheduled for March 23, Hyatt said.

The theater also facilitates requests for special showings for groups and organizations.

"All they have to do is call me," he said.

The base theater is in Bldg. 150 on Randall Ave., and movies are shown Friday through Sunday.
