Interns in the Palace Acquire program completed a three-week operational training assignment here March 8.

The Palace Acquire program is a three-year program to train General Schedule employees, and this operational training assignment is a requirement for its completion, said Capt. Alex Rich, 90th Maintenance Operations Squadron training flight commander.

Colleen Walker, recent training graduate, said during training the interns visited various units on base to observe their functions and underwent leadership training.

"It's a chance to get a different perspective," said Anneliese Schonauer, another recent training graduate.

The training is an opportunity for the interns who usually don't get to experience the operational side of the military to see the culmination of their efforts, said Rich.

"This gave them an idea of what the end-user needs," he said.

The training graduates will now continue on toward completion of the Palace Acquire program, said Schonauer.
