WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. -- The Balfour Beatty Communities Foundation, a non-profit organization affiliated with Balfour Beatty Communities, the housing privatization contractor for Warren, is offering scholarships to qualified servicemembers' children. The BBC Foundations is offering the scholarship as a way to honor servicemembers, said Rebeccah McClure, BBC lifeworks coordinator. According to the BBC Foundation's Web site, the scholarship is available to high school seniors and undergraduate students of accredited universities. The scholarships range from $1,000 to $2,500 with a potential for greater values for exceptional applicants. Those applying for the scholarship are required to submit a 500 to 1,000-word essay and a recommendation letter from a teacher or coach. The deadline for applications has been extended to May 15, McClure said. According to the BBC Foundation's Web site, scholarships will be awarded based on review of the applicant's academic performance, financial need, community involvement and extra-curricular activities. "I would really like to see someone from F. E. Warren get the scholarship," McClure said.
