The Chadwell Dining Facility is scheduled to close for approximately six months beginning June 30.

The DFAC will be closed to renovate the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system, said Master Sgt. Danielle Hirvela, 90th Force Support Squadron dining facility manager.

Meal-card holders will automatically receive Basic Allowance for Sustenance during the closure, Hirvela added.

A letter is being routed through Col. Christopher Coffelt, 90th Missile Wing commander, that will allow all meal card holders in the 90th MW to receive BAS. This prevents individual squadron commanders from being forced to authorize the switch to BAS for their Airmen making the switch more seamless, she said.

Even Airmen who work in the missile fields will receive BAS. They will need to pay for their meals in cash, she said.

Some Airmen are excited about receiving BAS, however some Airmen prefer eating at the DFAC with their meal cards.

"It's inconvenient because now we have to buy our own food," said Airman 1st Class Marissa Glenn, 90th Logistics Readiness Squadron traffic management counselor. "It was easier to go to the chow hall for breakfast, lunch and dinner instead."
