90th MXG undefeated in U21R2 flag football tournament Published July 13, 2012 By Airman 1st Class Jason Wiese 90th Missile Wing Public Affairs F. E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. -- Members of the 90th Maintenance Group won a flag football tournament hosted by the Under 21 Responsible and Resilient Program July 5 on the F. E. Warren ball fields. The undefeated 90th MXG beat members of the 90th Logistics Readiness Squadron 18 to 6 in the finals, earning themselves and their unit bragging rights. "It feels good," said Airman 1st Class Greg Jones, 90th Missile Maintenance Squadron missile handling team. "We have good chemistry and we're all just having fun." Jones attributed their success to a defense that would not allow anything to pass. "We had a lot of defensive turnovers, and we played with intensity the whole time," he said. Although there was a healthy dose of competition, the main reason for this and other U21R2 events is for people to have fun, said Senior Airman Lance Drawdy, 90th Security Forces Squadron enlisted performance report monitor and coordinator of the tournament. "We want people to know you can have a good time without drinking," he said. "Everybody was out here to have fun." Another benefit of events such as these is the ability to meet members of other units on base, Jones added. "Most of the time, we'd never see each other, but here we meet new people and have an opportunity to network," he said. The turnout for the event was nice, Drawdy said, but he hopes more teams show up to future events. "There will be more U21R2 events coming," he said. "This is just one of many."
