Undefeated 90th CES wins fifth softball tournament Published Aug. 3, 2012 By Airman 1st Class Jason Wiese 90th Missile Wing Public Affairs F. E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. -- Members of the 90th Civil Engineer Squadron won a softball tournament held by the 90th Force Support Squadron July 19 on the F. E. Warren ball fields. The 90th CES team defeated the 90th Security Forces Group Tactical Response Force team 23 to 13 in the final game of the tournament. Out of eight teams, the 90th CES finished the tournament with zero losses. Because of the double-elimination rules of the tournament, the 90th SFG TRF would have had to win twice in a row against the 90th CES, but the 90th CES did not give them a chance -- they won on their first encounter. Master Sgt. Dan Conrad, 90th CES, attributed their victory to good hitting. "We hit the ball well," he said. "We had a few mistakes on defense and let them get some runs, but we pulled through." Lt. Col Travis Leighton, 90th CES commander, attended the tournament and watched his unit seize the victory. "I'm extremely proud," Leighton said. "This is my first year here, but we've won [the tournament] several years in a row." This victory is the fifth straight intramural softball tournament win for the 90th CES, but the 90th SFG TRF put up a fight, Conrad said. "They played very well," Conrad added. "My hat's off to those guys."
