Important information regarding the upgrade and migration of the Military Personnel Database System Published Oct. 5, 2012 By Staff 90th Force Support Squadron F. E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. -- All personnel actions for Air Force members are transacted through a system known as the Military Personnel Database System (MilPDS).The current MilPDS is over-customized, 10 years behind the industry standard, is very expensive to maintain and is also susceptible to security issues. For these reasons, MilPDS will undergo a complete upgrade to a new system known as "MilPDS R12." The MilPDS R12 Upgrade is the most ambitious MilPDS project to date. It involves moving the hardware and upgrading both the main application and database through two versions to bring the system to industry standard. This migration will occur during a 23-day period in December, 2012. During this time, we will not have an operational personnel data system. What this means to you and your Airmen is this: plan and prepare for any personnel actions - especially those affecting pay - so that the transactions can be input into the system before the system is turned off in December.
