WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. -- Balfour Beatty Communities partnered with Meridian Trust Federal Credit Union to host a money management seminar Dec. 13 in the LifeWorks House at 1925 Seneca Ave. "This LifeWorks event provided an opportunity for residents to learn additional tips and best practices around managing their finances," said Beckah McClure, BBC LifeWorks coordinator. Gena Carroll, Meridan Trust Operations vice president, and Christy Levato, Meridian Trust loan officer, discussed with Airmen in attendance financial topics including the differences between banks and credit unions, building credit and taking out loans. The local military presence is important to Cheyenne's economy and growth, Carroll explained. She said it is one reason why she wanted to give back by participating in the seminar. "We like to help people understand financial literacy," she said. "We learn from our parents, but some people have learned bad practices. We want to help people budget better and teach their kids good practices." Senior Airman Tyler Simonsen, 90th Civil Engineer Squadron power production technician was one of the Airmen in attendance. "It gave me a better understanding of loans, credit history and how to manage money," he said. This seminar was one of many LifeWorks events BBC has been hosted on F. E. Warren. The next money management seminar is planned for January and will focus on car buying, McClure said.
