The Airman and Family Readiness Center is scheduled to host a series of free money management seminars from Feb. 25 to March 1 as part of the Department of Defense's Military Saves Week.

Each seminar is held around lunch time so Airmen can attend while on lunch break, and a free lunch is provided so attendees get to eat.

"We know our people are busy and trying to multitask to fit more in their schedule," said Bob Frohnapfel, AFRC. "To facilitate them coming, we're combining education with a free lunch so they can take advantage of their time and hopefully receive some education that will help them financially."

Financially stable Airmen can avoid stress and increase their resiliency, which in turn improves mission effectiveness overall, Frohnapfel said.

"If they have to turn wrenches or provide security, they can know their finances are in order and focus on their work," Frohnapfel explained.

Many Airmen deploy to the missile fields for days at a time and might not be able to attend any of the brown bag seminars. Their families can still benefit if their spouses attend in their stead. Airmen are also encouraged to attend with their spouses, Frohnapfel said.

"When it comes to finances and budgets, we always encourage families to develop complementary goals."

If Airmen want to attend a brown bag seminar, Frohnapfel encourages their supervisors to help their troops attend meetings by rearranging their schedules if possible.

Military Saves Week kicks off the 2013 Military Saves Campaign, a DOD-wide campaign, which is part of the larger, nationwide America Saves Campaign. It is a total force, command-level program that focuses on a goal of financial growth among military families.

Space for each seminar is limited. Those wanting to RSVP for any of the seminars can call 773-5941 to register.
