Colonel Brian Young is the Vice Commander, 90th Missile Wing, Francis E. Warren AFB, Wyoming. He provides strategic nuclear deterrence through the operation, maintenance, security and support by over 4,200 military, civilian and contractor personnel operating 15 missile alert facilities and 150 Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles, constantly ready to launch at the direction of the President of the United States.
Colonel Young enlisted in the Air Force in 1989 and served as an Environmental Support Specialist at Andrews Air Force Base, MD. He was commissioned in 1996 through Officer Training School. He has served in a variety of ICBM Operations and Maintenance positions including; ICBM launch officer; Weapon System, Codes and EWO instructor, ICBM flight and software test officer, Maintenance Operations Officer, Maintenance Operations Squadron commander and Deputy Maintenance Group Commander. He deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan in 2010 where he managed training contracts to build the Afghan National Security Forces. He was also assigned to the ICBM Systems Directorate and in his last assignment he was the Deputy Director for major modernization at the National Nuclear Security Administration in the Department of Energy in Washington, D.C.
