Nonjudicial Punishment (Article 15)
A Senior Airman (SrA) was observed by a police officer speeding through Cheyenne, at one point accelerating to 50 mph in a posted 30 mph zone. The officer pursued the SrA for several minutes observing the SrA reaching speeds over 109 mph on I-25. The officer stopped their pursuit for safety purposes and radioed in a description of the vehicle. Later, the same officer observed the SrA driving back into town, and pulled the SrA over. The commander determined the SrA violated Article 113, UCMJ, and imposed the following punishment: Reduction to the grade of Airman First Class (suspended); forfeiture of $500.00 pay for one month; 30 days extra duty; 30 days restriction to base; and a reprimand. #cantoutrunaradio #stopwiththefastandfuriousshizalready
An Airman First Class (A1C) was administered a drug urinalysis test during a gate sweep that returned positive for THC at 20 ng/ml. A Captain (Capt) went to a bar and grill with members of the Capt’s unit while TDY to get drinks after they had dinner at a different location. After having a few drinks, despite their commander’s direct order to not drink at a bar and grill while TDY, the Capt engaged in an unprofessional intimate relationship with a Senior Airman (SrA) from the same unit. The Capt was the officer in charge of the TDY members from the Capt’s unit, and the SrA was the most junior member of that group. Both the Capt and the SrA were married to other people. The commander determined the Capt violated Articles 92 and 134, UCMJ, and imposed the following punishment: Forfeiture of $2,000.00 pay per month for two months; and a reprimand. #lotsofbaddecisions #thisisnothowtolead
A Staff Sergeant (SSgt) made several inappropriate sexual comments to junior Airmen in their flight. The junior Airman asked the SSgt to stop making those comments to them. The SSgt responded by giving them extra work. An Airman First Class (A1C) pulled their M18 service weapon about 1 inch out of its holster while on duty in the Weapons Storage Area in what was perceived as a threatening manner. Witnesses to the event said the A1C never pointed the weapon at anyone. An Airman First Class (A1C) used their Government Travel Card to do some shopping at Wal-Mart and pay some back due taxes. These expenses were not related to official travel. Additionally, the A1C failed to pay the minimum due on their GTC after more than 45 days. A Senior Airman (SrA) was administered a random drug urinalysis test that returned positive for cocaine at 392 ng/ml. Additionally, the SrA had been directed to assume 6-ring standby and broke the standby by using cocaine. An Airman (Amn) appeared to be intoxicated, crying, and yelling in their dormitory. A fellow Airman called Security Forces, who responded to the incident to perform a wellness check. The Amn began to get angry and eventually started yelling racial slurs and obscenities at the Security Forces members, including telling a Lieutenant that,” [they] don’t do anything for anyone, all [they] did was go to school.” Then, the Amn grabbed one of the responding Technical Sergeant’s M4 carbine service weapon. The TSgt ordered the Amn to not grab the rifle, but the Amn grabbed the rifle again. Once apprehended, the Amn was given a BrAC test, which returned a result of .222. The Commander determined the Amn violated Articles 87, 89, 91, and 134, UCMJ, and imposed the following punishment: Reduction to the grade of Airman Basic; 30 days restriction to base; and a reprimand. #violatingallthemUCMJarticles #timetolayoffthebottle
An Amn was driving a HMMWV on a gravel road at a speed of about 43.9 mph, when the HMMWV speed limit was 25 mph when on gravel roads. When a car pulled out onto the road ahead of the HMMWV, the Amn lost control, skidded, and rolled over causing $9,075.48 worth of damage. The Commander determined the Amn violated Articles 92 and 108, UCMJ, and imposed the following punishment: Forfeiture of $1,000.00 pay for one month; $1,000.00 pay for one month (suspended); and a reprimand. #luckynoonewashurt #justslowdown
Administrative Discharges
*Administrative Discharges resulting from misconduct, including drug abuse, almost always result in a loss of some veteran benefits, specifically education benefits like the GI Bill. A discharge characterization that is not Honorable, may also limit future employment opportunities*
An Airman (Amn) was administered urinalysis test during a unit drug sweep that returned positive for THC at 51 ng/ml. For this misconduct, the Amn received an Article 15. In the following “Bickel” tests the Amn returned two more positive urinalysis tests for THC at levels of 676 ng/ml and 1818 ng/ml. The Amn was discharged prior to receiving a clean “Bickel” test. The Amn was discharged for Misconduct, Drug Abuse, with an Under Honorable Conditions (General) Service Characterization. #THCyoulater #juststopdoingdrugs
Court Martial Convictions
There were no court martial convictions during March 2021.
