F. E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. -- Preservers of the past and defenders of the future, the Association of Air Force Missileers uphold the history and support the Air Force missile mission and the personnel who dedicate their lives to that mission.
The AAFM celebrated its 25th anniversary this year, with more than 250 attendees visiting F. E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming.
“The Minuteman weapons system hasn’t changed a lot in the last 50-60 years,” said Ret. Maj. Gen. Robert W. Parker, AAFM member and retired 20th Air Force commander. “Same responsibilities: safeguard the missiles, make sure they’re on alert and always be prepared if the orders [to launch] come down.”
During the visit, AAFM members were informed on the latest information for some ICBM programs.
“Members of the AAFM are a part of our history and having them be able to see the similarities and growing differences in the mission is invaluable,” said Maj. Lok Ming Tam, 320th Missile Squadron assistant director of operations and project officer for the AAFM tour. “This tour has allowed them to see that their legacy is still in good hands with the Airmen we have today.”
