The 90th Missile Wing Company Grade Officers’ Council held a public speaking workshop Jan. 12, 2018 at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyo.

The workshop focused on how to write a speech and was open to base personnel and dependents.

Capt. LaRae Johnson, 321st Missile Squadron ICBM Operations flight commander, said the workshop was important because the skills learned will not just apply to the Air Force, but life in general.

“Understanding how to properly write a speech allows for one to be able to convey their message in a way that the audience will actually receive it,” Johnson said. “We hope to provide them the tools for a demanding world-class skill.”

The workshop attendees learned how to develop a topic and properly outline a speech.

“I know that as I make rank, I will have more public speaking opportunities and workshops like this will help me to communicate more effectively,” said Airman 1st Class Amy Demitry, 90th Medical Operations Squadron dental assistant.

A speech writing workshop will be held Jan. 19, 2018 and members will be asked to research a topic and practice writing a speech. For more information on future CGOC workshops, please call (307) 773-4972.
