The end of summer brings many changes to the Mighty Ninety -- one of those being the start of a new school year for many of Air Force Global Strike Command's youth here.

The 90th Missile Wing safety office offers some tips to help keep Warren's youth safe this school year.

"One of the best things you can do is to get in the habit of recognizing school zones you have to drive through on your daily travel routine," said Troy Weaver, 90th MW vehicle safety specialist. "Another tip would be to slow down. Give yourself extra time in the morning and afternoon."

"The speed limit for school zones is 20 mph, and it's strictly enforced," Weaver added.

With school now in session, buses will be out and about transporting Warren's youth to and from school. Whenever a bus flashes its lights, drivers are to stop, regardless of which direction they are traveling. The reason for stopping is because children will be entering or exiting the bus.

Playgrounds and parks are other areas that may have many children present. Scanning for bicycles and between parked cars can help in detecting if children are present.

"Remember, one of the most important things in this world is children," Weaver said. "Please watch out for them."
