General Kehler, AFSPC/CC, has declared Thursday, 19 February 09, AFSPC Cyber Awareness Day. As each one of us has access to a variety of networks, it is imperative that we adopt a "cyber sentry" ethos that keeps us vigilant to all potential network attacks. Many of you have experienced cyber attacks; some simulated during exercises and some real world.

Bottom line is that the threat is real and our adversaries are determined. Cyber attacks have the potential to disrupt not just daily administrative functions, but our command and control operations as well.

90 CS has put together activities that emphasize our role in defending against this threat. From 0001 until 1500, Thursday, 19 Feb 09, each network user will be directed to a mandatory video from General Kehler at log on (don't worry, this is not a hoax). This video is about 5 minutes long and describes the cyberspace domain, our role in the defense this battle space and is required viewing by all 90 MW personnel. Please contact SSgt Chad Johnson at extension 5139 if you have any questions.

We will also send out three 90 MW All emails throughout the day.

One in the morning will be an overview and stage setter that emphasizes issues that have caught us in the past.

An email at midday will contain a link to phishing training, talk about the importance of digital signatures and the upcoming roll out of the Digital Signature Enforcement Tool (DSET).

The last email of the day will contain a link to AFSPC Information Assurance Community of Practice (CoP) and the 90 MW Information Assurance CoP for additional information. This email will also talk about efforts you can expect to see in the future regarding the protection of the cyber battle space.

There will be no Information Assurance exercises during the day on Thursday. Our goal in to inform, not to try to catch anyone with bogus emails or steer people to "trick" web pages. Please contact SSgt Chad Johnson, 90 MW Information Assurance Office at extension 5139 or Maj David Stone, 90 CS/CC at 2140 if you have any questions.
