Country singer Josh Gracin is part of the tour and performed a free concert here Aug. 15. About 600 Warren members turned out for the event in front of Quarters 92, home of Maj. Gen. Roger Burg, Twentieth Air Force commander.

"It feels good to be here and to be on this tour," Mr. Gracin said. "It's an amazing experience to join this tour and perform for troops who deploy and risk their lives."

The Spirit of America Tour began in 2002 to bring headline entertainers to military bases within the contiguous United States. Entertainers perform free concerts to boost morale of service members and their families, retirees and civilian workers. The tour began March 4 and ends Sept. 9.

Col. Mike Morgan, 90th Space Wing commander, said the concert was a smashing success as he addressed the concert attendees.

Many Warren members volunteered at the concert with security, set up and take down of the stage and other equipment.

"The participation was great," said Tara Morton, 90th Force Support Squadron. "This was an awesome place to have it. It was just a great concert."

Mr. Gracin served in the Marines before and during the second season of the television show American Idol, where he found musical success.

Mr. Gracin said having tours like this one are very important.

"[The concerts] boost the morale of bases, and that's real important," Mr. Gracin said.

"Having him here just shows that he gives back to the military," Mrs. Morton said.
