WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. -- Aircrew members, convoy and tactical response forces from F. E. Warren, Minot Air Force Base, N.D., and Malmstrom Air Force Base, Mont., will receive classroom and practical training to enhance nuclear security at Camp Guernsey Oct. 3-31, during Road Warrior IX. Each team will receive one week of intense tactical weapons training to include live-fire training, extensive small-unit tactics and convoy force-on-force exercises. The training will include realistic scenarios facilitated by 50 instructors and evaluators. "Road Warrior training provides each wing the opportunity to test and practice procedures to enhance security during the transportation of sensitive weapons components," said Maj. Gen. C. Donald Alston, 20th Air Force commander. "This is a no-fail mission, and the superb facilities at Camp Guernsey enable us to train at full scale." This training course offers a variety of obstacles and challenges for the 150 participants. "This is a terrific opportunity for the missile wing convoy teams to practice resource protection techniques which ensure the safe transport of ICBM components in a challenging environment," said Mr. Dave Lycan, 90th Ground Combat Training Squadron deputy commander. The training also includes the opportunity for convoy teams to practice techniques and procedures against opposition forces, and receive real-time feedback during their training. "These highly skilled opposition force operators will create some of the greatest challenges for the convoy and response teams," Lycan added. "This isn't a competition, evaluation or exercise, it's pure training with realistic attacks and unscripted responses." The focus of Road Warrior IX is to maintain the standard of perfection held in all ICBM wings for nuclear security. Training such as this ensures Airmen remain highly-trained professionals capable of protecting the nation's ICBM fleet.
