Gate Changes

Gate Change Operations during Fort D.A. Russell Days and CFD

To ensure safe and uninterrupted access on/off the installation during the event, the following gate changes will be in effect from July 19-Aug. 9, 2019.

 

Event Access ONLY: Gate 1 (central gate on Randall Ave; off exit 11 on Interstate 25) will only provide access to/from the event. Vehicles will NOT be able to gain installation access outside of the event area from this gate. 

Gate 1 Operating Hours: 
Friday/19 July – open for event access from 0900 – 1700. 
Saturday/20 July – open for event access from 0900 – 1900. 
       The General's Dinner attendees will use Gate 1 for access. 
Sunday/21 July – open for event access from 0900 – 1700.   
Wednesday/ 24 July- open for event access from 0600
– 0900.

 

 

Installation Access ONLY:  Gate 5 (north gate on Central Ave; off of exit 12 on Interstate 25) and Gate 2 (south gate on Missile Dr; off of exit 10 on Interstate 25) These gates will be used for any and all permanently assigned, TDY, visitors, contractors, retirees, etc who require installation access.

 

Gate 5 Operating Hours: Open for installation Monday-Friday 0700 - 1500. Open to outbound traffic 1630 - 1715.

Gate 2 Operating Hours: Open for installation access 24 hours 19 July - 9 August 2019.

Held at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wy.

Parking
All visitors will enter through Gate 1 and be directed to parking.
Free shuttles will take all visitors, base personnel and volunteers from event parking to the viewing area. All adults must have a photo I.D. and all vehicles are subject to random checks by security forces personnel. Free, designated parking is available for all attendees.

6:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.
Base access open for parking
6:00 a.m. - Shuttles to viewing area begin
9:00 a.m. – Base access closes for airshow viewing and all late visitors will be turned away at the gate
10:00 a.m. –The USAF Thunderbird Aerial Demonstration will be held over F.E. Warren Air Force Base. For more information call the Public Affairs office at 307-773-3381

 

The event, located on base, will have static displays for viewing, concessions and a bouncy house for children.
Bathrooms and trash cans will be located throughout the viewing area.

F.E. Warren will host its annual open house, Fort D.A. Russell Days, July 19-21 to provide community members an opportunity to learn about the base’s mission and history.

All events during the three-day open house are free to the public and include historic military presentations, security forces dog demonstrations, modern ICBM mission displays and period-style dances.

People interested in attending any of the events may access the base through Gate 1 off of Randall Avenue. All adults must have a photo I.D. and all vehicles are subject to random checks by security forces personnel. Free, designated parking is available for all attendees.

9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Friday through Sunday – Free shuttle bus running from Cheyenne Frontier Days grounds to F. E. Warren AFB.  Catch the bus in front tour tent and the CFD grounds Main Entrance. Visitors can ride free between each venue. Last bus to CFD grounds leaves F. E. Warren AFB at 3:30 p.m. FREE

9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. – Modern ICBM mission displays.  See an UH-1N Huey helicopter, USAF fire trucks and USAF Security Forces vehicles.  Centennial Lake/Main Gate, F. E. Warren AFB. Follow signs, free parking.  FREE

9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. – Living History Camp Presentations & Demonstrations, F. E. Warren AFB. Free

9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. – Camp Carlin Supply Run, a “stick” mule race for 5-8 year old children delivering supplies to historic forts, F. E. Warren AFB.  FREE

10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. - Food Vendors, bring your family and friends for a delicious meal.  F. E. Warren AFB.         

11:00 a.m.  – Security Forces K9 Working Dog Demo. Centennial Lake, F.E. Warren AFB.

2:30 p.m. – American Revolution Historic Military Demonstration, Parade Field (Bleachers), F. E. Warren AFB. FREE

2:45 p.m. – Gunfight demonstration by the Wyoming Widow makers Centennial Lake (Bleachers), F. E. Warren AFB. FREE

3:00 p.m. - The Trotters Cavalry Performance.  Demonstration of historical Cavalry Precision Riding Drills, Parade Field (Bleachers), F. E. Warren AFB.  FREE

 

Saturday, July 20

On exhibit: Transporter Erector, Periodic Maintenance Team Van (Tractor/Trailer), Nuclear Payload Transporter and other vehicles. Tour U1 training silo and a Launch Control Center trainer. Transportation is provided.  Please provide picture ID for the tour, no cameras or large bags allowed. Last tour bus leaves at 2:30 p.m.  FREE
