In April 2023, U.S. Air Force UH-1N Iroquois “Huey” crews from the 37th and 40th Helicopter Squadrons flew from F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming, and Malmstrom AFB, Montana, respectively, to Offutt AFB, Nebraska, to support U.S. Strategic Command exercise Global Thunder 2023. The three sorties executed during the exercise included transporting USSTRATCOM leaders and landing near the headquarters building. GT23 is an annual command and control exercise designed to train USSTRATCOM forces and assess joint operational readiness. The mission of U.S. Strategic Command is to deter strategic attack through a safe, secure, effective and credible global combat capability and, when directed, is ready to prevail in conflict.
