Helpful hints for safe Halloween Published Oct. 22, 2013 By Staff Reports Balfour Beatty Communities F.E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. -- It is that time of year again for ghosts, goblins, pirates and princesses to stroll the community on the hunt for sweet treats. With Halloween just around the corner, Balfour Beatty Communities would like to share a few tips and tricks for a safe holiday. Choose a careful costume · Use face paint instead of masks to avoid obstructing view · Attach reflectors or glow-in-the-dark elements to costumes or create a glow-in-the-dark trick-or-treat bag · Avoid trips and falls by wearing costumes that fit properly and are not too long · Only wear costumes that are flame-retardant Drive & walk safely It is a chilling fact that on Halloween, children are twice more likely to be hit and killed by a vehicle than on any other day. To ensure children stay safe when crossing the street, drivers are encouraged to stay focused, avoid distractions and drive slowly. Talk to children about the importance of looking both ways before crossing the street as well as crossing at corners rather than zigzagging between houses. To lessen the possibility of tripping on one's property, remove any obstacles on sidewalks and steps. People are invited to attend the Balfour Beatty Communities Halloween Celebration in the Fall Hall Community Center Oct. 26 from 11:45a.m. to 4 p.m. For more BBC Halloween safety tips visit the safety page at: http://fewarrenfamilyhousing.com/resident-resources/safety/.
