The Mighty Ninety is tasked with completing one of the highest priority missions in the Department of Defense:
Defend America with the world's premier combat-ready ICBM force.
In order to accomplish the mission, the 90th Missile Wing follows one simple vision:
The Mighty Ninety, inspired by heritage, empowered by Airmen and driven by innovation. The world's most trusted, dominant ICBM force.
The 90th Missile Wing falls under two main commands: U.S. Strategic Command and Air Force Global Strike Command.
USSTRATCOM, located at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., combines the synergy of the U.S. legacy nuclear command and control mission with responsibility for space operations; global strike; global missile defense; and global command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, and combating weapons of mass destruction. This dynamic command gives National Leadership a unified resource for greater understanding of specific threats around the world and the means to respond to those threats rapidly.
AFGSC, located at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., is responsible for the nation's three intercontinental ballistic missile wings, the Air Force’s entire bomber force, to include B-52, B-1 and B-2 wings, the Long Range Strike Bomber program, and operational and maintenance support to organizations within the nuclear enterprise.
The Department of the Air Force is headquartered in the Pentagon, Washington D.C. The service is organized in nine major commands throughout the world which provide combat aircraft, airlift, refueling, reconnaissance and other support to the Unified Combatant Commands. The Air Force also has more than three dozen field operating agencies and direct reporting units which directly support the mission by providing unique services. Together with Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard forces, the United States Air Force is the best in the world. The acting Secretary of the Air Force is John P. Roth, the Chief of Staff of the Air Force is Gen. Charles Q. Brown, the Vice Chief of Staff is Gen. David W. Allvin, and the Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force is CMSAF Joanne S. Bass.
