F.E. Warren Air Force Base became one of the nation’s first ICBM bases in 1960, when the Atlas missile came online. Many things have changed over those more than 60 years, but the mission has always been the same: to provide preeminent combat capability across the spectrum of conflict.

That mission was on full display November 18, 2021, when the 90th Missile Wing hosted the first lady of Wyoming, Jennie Gordon, to show off its mission while giving her a tour of F.E. Warren Air Force Base,

“It’s a huge honor to host the First Lady of Wyoming and show her the Airmen and mission of the Mighty Ninety,” said Col. Catherine Barrington, 90th Missile Wing commander. “Our partnership with Wyoming’s leaders is vital to the wing. I’m hopeful that the visit helps continue to build bridges between the base and the local community and builds upon opportunities for our Airmen and their spouses.”

Gordon visited the Child Development Center, 37th Helicopter Squadron and medical group during her visit. She also had the opportunity to learn about the base’s missile mission while visiting the training launch facility and Missile Procedures Trainer. Throughout the day, Gordon saw what Airmen here do on a day-to-day basis and talked with individuals about their jobs and time here on F.E. Warren.

“Being here was inspirational and it made me feel very close to my dad who was in the Air Force,” said Gordon. “Also, seeing the men and women serving our country just fills me with pride.”
