We are in the fourth week of January and hopefully not too many people have given up on their New Year’s resolutions set for 2019 however, if your goals have fallen to the back burner or you want to set goals now, the 90th Force Support Squadron has you covered.

Operation Lose It was created to encourage participants to shed any unwanted health habits and learn to form new ones over the three-month challenge.

“Not everyone knows about our various programs,” said Staff Sgt. Ruel Abastas, 90th FSS fitness specialist. “This program was one way to increase knowledge of our programs and increase fitness.”

Upon signing up, participants will receive a bingo card with various activities to complete, such as an aerobics class and a health promotion class with the health and wellness center. After completing tasks, the participant will receive a raffle ticket. So the more tasks you complete the better the chances to win.  The drawing and final competition day will be April 5th.

According to the Fun at Warren website, two random winners will be drawn to receive prizes worth up to $150.

Abastas also noted that the inspiration behind the challenge was getting someone familiar with the facility. The more comfortable the participant becomes, the higher the likelihood of continuous workouts.

‘’Operation Lose It was not put together to promote weight loss,” said Abastas. “The challenge was built to lose bad habits. It is a program where we have the members get to know our equipment and services.”

The Operation Lose It challenge sign up was extended till Jan. 30, 2019.

Even though the sign up is a few days away, all the classes advertised specifically for the challenge are open to anyone.

“We have a variety of classes throughout the week in the gym,” said Alison Morrell, 90th Medical Group HAWC health promotion coordinator. “On the educational side of the gym, we have classes like our cooking demonstration of February 1.”

Additionally, to build up fit to fight Airmen, Freedom Hall Fitness center here, will be offering 13 classes weekly beginning in February.

If you feel inspired and motivated to keep the challenges going throughout the entire year, 90th FSS has put together a program for each quarter.

Don’t forget to sign up for Operation Lose It at the front desk of Freedom Hall Fitness Center.
