The 90th Missile Wing will hold an Air Force Ball celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Air Force’s establishment as an independent branch of the armed forces Sept. 16 at Little America Resort in Cheyenne, Wyo.

In addition to the Air Force’s 70th anniversary, the 90th Missile Wing will also be celebrating the 150th anniversary of both the city of Cheyenne and Francis E. Warren Air Force Base. The base, originally established as Fort D.A. Russell for Cavalry troops to protect the Union Pacific Railroad, has been operating continuously since its founding in 1867. Fort D.A. Russell was renamed Fort Francis E. Warren in 1930, and was transferred from the Army to the United States Air Force in 1947.

There will be dinner provided by Little America, music by the United States Air Force Academy Band, photos by Studio Photobooth, and Designated Drivers volunteering on behalf of FE Warren’s Safe Ride.
