The crown: out with the old, in with the new

Captain Corey Cook, 90th Medical Group dentist, and Airman 1st Class Amy Demitre, 90th Medical Group dental assistant, scans a patients teeth to make a 3-D photo after removing a silver crown at the dental clinic on F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyo., Dec. 19, 2017. The intraoral scanner allows the crown to be designed, made and placed during one appointment, whereas the old technology would take multiple appointments and temporarily result in the patient becoming non-deployable until the new crown was placed. The mission of the U.S. Air Force Dental Corps is to achieve superior oral health and global readiness through safe, effective and patient-centered care.
