90th MW Police Week 2018

Senior Airman Kevin Santos 90th Security Forces Squadron military working dog handler, fires his weapon down-range during a three-gun competition at the Cheyenne Police Department firing range in Laramie County, Wyo. A three-gun competition consists of a set of courses in which you shoot three different weapons—a rifle, a pistol and a shotgun—at different stages, and engage various short- and long-distance targets from multiple positions. Scoring is based on time and hits minus penalties, with each stage assigned match points based on a degree of difficulty. In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. People all across the United States participate in various events which honor those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Braydon Williams)
