Eighty leaders and guests from the base and local community came together for the Honorary Commander’s Induction Ceremony Jan. 10, for an evening of dinner, socializing, and celebrating at the Trail’s End Club on F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming.

The Honorary Commander’s Program provides leaders within the community an opportunity to learn more about the 90th Missile Wing’s mission. The program also allows Airmen to become more connected to their local community.

Members appointed to this program represent an array of organizations and positions within the community to ensure a variety of perspectives and experiences.

These selected community leaders are partnered with various wing, group and squadron commanders throughout the installation for two-year terms. Throughout the year, they are invited to attend base tours, unit events, change of command ceremonies and various social functions.

“This is going to be an amazing adventure to learn more about the incredible mission you all undertake each and every day,” said Gary New, operations manager at NCAR-Wyoming Supercomputing Center and new honorary commander paired with Lt Col. Raymond Spohr, 90th Communications Squadron commander.

Alongside those selected as honorary commanders, there was a portion of the evening dedicated to recognizing the civic leaders in attendance. F.E. Warren civic leaders are nominated and appointed by Gen. Timothy Ray, Air Force Global Strike Command commander. These civic leaders brief General Ray on any issues, concerns or highlights from the community perspective.

“We couldn’t do our mission without support from the community. The Mighty Ninety is incredibly fortunate to have incredible community leaders and valued teammates,” said Col. Peter Bonetti, 90th Missile Wing commander. “Our Airmen and their families feel this community’s support every moment of every day.”
